A Yacting Holiday In Greece Is Beautifully Different

February 7th, 2011

Have you ever taken the wheel of a yacht? If not, have you ever dreamed about the experience? Well the sensation can vary between extremes depending on what conditions prevail whilst you are at the helm! The experience can be one of serene relaxation, with the wheel in hand and a drink in the other,to just the opposite to one of total focus of decision making, skill and keeping control of the ship! The variation is of course  dependent on weather and tide conditions and where you happen to be sailing. The latter situation is evidently not where any novice sailor would want to be for too long, however the first scenario is a bit of a fantasy for a lot of people. There is something about the sea that draws, whether we are on it or just near it. On a yacht you feel especially close to it,due to the very way the boat travels under sail.

The feeling of being in control of a sailing vessel is special and much more exhiliarating than in a motor boat. There is a lot more to know than how to turn a large wheel, that’s for sure.Learning in calm conditions is fun though, once you are confident and know you are in the safe hands of an experienced sailor. In fact it’s better than fun,it is wonderful feeling of power and control and of rubbing shoulders with nature’s raw forces. For those holiday makers who have always satisfied their annual lust for the sea by merely taking a public boat ride or two,the private yacht  experience is something else entirely I can assure you…it’s hands-on and you feel you are an integral and  important part of the action.

.Maybe a yachting holiday in the islands of Greece could be the change you were looking for,but never yet had the confidence to try.Sticking always to what we know in life is the safe option for many of us,but taking it every time never opens up new experiences. As they say,if you don’t try you will never know!

If you are interested in making 2011 your year for something different and exciting for your holiday, please see the other posts on this site drop me a personal email at:- yachtingholiday@virginmedia.com for some more details of what is still available for 2011

Ten Good Reasons For Considering A Yachting Holiday In Greece

January 4th, 2011

Ten good reasons for trying a yachting holiday in Greece:-

  1. Access places you couldn’t ever reach from land
  2. Eat and drink at tavernas you would never find any other way
  3. Learn a new skill and actually sail a sleek yacht (if you want to)
  4. No crowds and no road traffic to contend with
  5. No hassling street sales people,no noise or rowdy holidaymakers rolling out of pubs and clubs at night.
  6. Private charter for just your own group or family or meet and enjoy the new experience in the company of some new like-minded friends
  7. Enjoy the climate, swimming and get a tan, without a crowded beach in sight
  8. Spend less than on a package trip, and go short of nothing
  9. Get closer to the beauty of nature than its possible to do on a conventional holiday trip:- it’s all around you,see the wildlife,go snorkelling and much more
  10. Instead of just viewing the Greek Islands,be a part of them for a week or two!

An amazing experience for those wanting a blend of action and relaxation in idyllic peace and tranquillity… in very friendly and intelligent company… and without  the downsides that many resort holidays often bring!

Is A Yachting Holiday In Greece Of Serious Interest For 2011?

December 22nd, 2010

I do promise another post and more information on the subject of a yachting holiday in greece very soon on this site. However, this idea seems already to have provoked a very positive response. It seems that what I said in an earlier post and the thought of doing something different on their holiday next year, has got some of you thinking about it quite seriously.

Hence, what I am going to do for this particular site is,because by their very nature, places on these cruises, especially in the peak weeks, are very limited- I am going to allow anyone who is genuinly interested to register their name privately on this site.No other details other than your name and if possible what month you might be interested in,will be accepted. All it does is puts you on a priority list,in date order of registration. You of course are committing to absolutely nothing. If you register by email the only communication you will receive will be from the relevant booking department for the yachting holiday.Or maybe even the Skipper himself! As soon as the booking itineraries are available, you will simply be asked if you are still interested.

No pressure here,it’s not any sort of sales ploy and I don’t work for any company offering these trips. It’s  just a helpful offer for those who like the sound of cruising the greek islands within a reasonable budget and want to make sure of a place should they decide on it.I can make sure you get priority treatment that’s all!

A contact email address, solely for this purpose only, will be posted here on this site before the end of 2010.

good luck and look out for more information

A Typical Day On A Yachting Holiday In Greece

December 13th, 2010

Wake up to a leisurely breakfast. Then when everyone is ready off to our first stop normally a little bay for a spot of  swimming or snorkelling (all gear provided)  or just sit and soak up the scenery and the tranquillity of the moment.

Take a relaxing lunch on board, then up with the anchor and set sail to our chosen port for the evening. Time now for a shower, a sundowner and a chance to admire a stunning grecian island sunset. Then a stroll along the quay to one of the many fine tavernas to partake of  a leisurely dinner, feasting on local fresh fish and seafood (which  is in abundance there) or any of the other fine local fayre, none of which is expensive on the islands. There is always a good choice for the kids too. Oh and what about a bottle or two of the excellent, good value local wine to go with it? Some of the oldest vineyards in the world are in this region, still producing excellent reds, whites and rose. There are full facilities on board to cook and prepare your own meals.
On another night you might prefer an evening meal onboard at the cockpit table sharing a warm evening breeze and a sky full of stars overhead. Then after a nightcap or three, you will drift slowly off to your cabin when you feel like it to recover from all the ‘hard work’ of the ‘gruelling’ day’s schedule and reflect quietly on what ‘further hardships’ tomorrow will bring.

Sorry if you are reading this at the office or on a dark freezing winter night somewhere, but its not just a story to annoy and frustrate you…it’s a true-to-life scenario!

More soon, if you can stand it!! Please bookmark and watch out for further posts and info

Why just go to one beautiful destination for your next holiday, when you can go to many.

Do you fancy an excitingly different holiday next year? Then why not consider a fabulous yachting holiday in Greece in 2011 and cruise around the stunning Greek Islands on this yacht!

For around the same price as a villa or an apartment you could be cruising the islands (and learning to sail too if you wish!) on a beautiful skippered yacht. You may be pleasantly surprised at how the costs can work out for such a trip!

Cruise the amazingingly picturesque Ionian Islands on a magnificent 49-foot yacht perfect for families or groups, with three private double cabins and separate crew quarters. Visit unspoilt islands only reachable by boat. Go to a different harbour each night to explore and enjoy superb little tavernas and bars, long lazy lunches at anchor in secluded crystal clear coves to swim, sunbathe and chill.

You would be in the hands of a friendly, english, qualified yacht master who can teach you to sail or just pass the cold beers and the sun cream, then show you the best places for sundowners or dinner.
